It’s something essential. On my camera in Soul shard dancing to Then perform the Beach Boys performing Okie from Muskogie. I met Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at the Garrick Theatre in 1967. They were filming Uncle Meat. It was the first time I met Frank Zappa and The Mothers. I formed or forged (whatever the word is) a friendship with Frank Zappa that lasted throughout the rest of his life.

The 60s Portland Scene and Almost Making It

The Mothers were playing their first extended engagement at the Garrick, which became the Bleeker Street Cinema. in the same building complex at the time in 1967. Also, the Cafe Go-Go was in the same building or two buildings that Connected.

Another major live performance I saw was The Who In the Summer of 1967 (Get date). I met Pete Townsend when I was 14 years old. He wasn’t twice my size, but It seemed like he was. I knew he had gone to Malibu Shore Club for many years. My family were members from 1956 to 1966. Lou Reed worked there as a Cabana Boy. There were less than 150 people at that show. The Who were headlining. The opening acts were Richie Havens, and The Blues Project.

I saw The Who again in 1968 at the Westbury Music Fair in Westbury, New York with Orpheus, one of the Boston hype groups opening. There were about 300 people in that audience. I was one of the first 300 or so Who fans in New York.

I was 15 years old when I saw The Who the second time. The first timewas 14.

When we saw them at the Music Fair during the performance, a bunch of us kids were running up and playing tag with them. So we tap them on the shoulder, and then we had run. We had already ran away by the time they turned around. They didn’t seem to mind. I think they were having fun with it.

Other notable shows I saw-skipping ahead a few years Were Bowie at Carnegie Hall. September of 72? This was his first show in New York, and the Warhol Factory took up the whole front of the orchestra. His son Zowie Bowie (Duncan Jones) was dancing with Angie in front of the stage. He was approximately four years old.

Another notable show we’ll have to put these in chronological sequence was The Doors at the Westbury Music Festival in 1968. It was just as The Unknown Soldier was released. They had promo film of the song showing behind them while they were performing it.

I saw The Jimi Hendrix Experience August 23, 1968 when they played the “New York Rock Festival” at The Singer Bowl in Flushing Meadow, New York. The show included Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company, the Chambers Brothers and the Soft Machine. It was a fantastic bill.

Also A notable shows. I saw Dozens of Beach Boys shows, Um, This is about. Between 1971 and 1980, Um, I got to know Carl Wilson and hung out with him three times The first time we met Carl Wilson On myself and Stephen Unger You and G, your Stephenstev v e n Um. He plays multiple. Insurance’s management was piano, and we we were. We were songwriting team. We try to audition for brother records, And that’s why we went. We went back to the hotel with Carl Wilson, And he was trying to get us a piano to use. So, we went into the Lombard area, Um, To ask to use the piano for us, and He stayed in there, about 10 minutes or 15 minutes, and it came out and he said we could go in there and do that, except there’s a Mafia, a mob meeting going on in there, and we might get shot, So we wisely decided Go in, Um, Any idea what Hotel? No, I don’t know, okay? And They believe the second time I encountered Carl Wilson. I went to Anaheim, which is where Disneyland is in California Convention Center. I didn’t have a ticket to see the Beach Boys who were playing there, and I went to the stage door. It’s in my name is Alan Norman. I’d like to see I’d like to, Um, come and see the show.
