TECHNO FOR THE FUTURE,  CIRCA 1980.  WHAT MAKES LOS MICROWAVES SHINE IS THE BAND’S REFUSAL TO CREATE DETACHED SOUNDS OR TO ENGAGE FULLY WITH THEIR LISTENERS.  THIS ISN’T SWEEPING LIKE GARY NEWMAN OR KRAFTWERK.  IT’S MISCHEIVOUS AND RUDIMENTARY SOUNDING TODAY. BUT AT ITS CORE IT’S STILL ESSENTIAL.

Side One features five studio tracks, none of which were included on the band’s 1981 LP, Life After Breakfast. Three of these tracks were recorded in 1982. Side Two contains five live recordings, capturing Los Microwaves onstage at The Peppermint Lounge in New York City, in Boston, and at San Francisco’s I-Beam, a venue that often played host to the band. Those tracks date from roughly  1980-83.
