Formed by Jan Gregor and Mark Fenton in Spokane in the late 1970s.  initially called Sweet Madness, the band became Next Exit after moving to Seattle in the early 1980.  From 1985 through 1991 the band became known as Variant Cause.  The band’s incarnations saw various line-ups of Gregor, Mark Fenton, Greg Morlan, Ryan Collins, Richard Hogan, Frank Holman, Tony Bortko, and Geoff Zehring
